I Don't Want To Play Anymore

I want to make a couple things very clear.

And Today in the News...More Polls

First of all, the fixation on the polls by the both sides of the media and all news people in general has got to stop. Unless you are a whiz at math, numbers, and methodology (and have nothing better to do with your time) most people have no idea which polls are reporting public opinion and which are designed to shape public opinion.
While polls can be interesting and over a long period can give you an idea of what might happen, they are far more useless than many in the media make them out to be. Imagine how much time we’d have to discuss if the candidate’s policies lined up with the Constitution if we weren't constantly rehashing the latest poll?
But who wants to talk about silly stuff like that?

And the Worst Nominee Ever in History Award Goes To...

Second, let’s all just agree that Trump supporters nominated a terrible candidate who wouldn’t know a conservative from a New Jersey governor. Throughout the primary, Trump supporters were warned repeatedly that Trump stood little to no chance against Hillary Clinton.
Anyone who cannot beat the most corrupt, deceitful Democrat ever to run for office is a bad candidate no matter how you slice it. During the primary, polling data over a long period of time showed that John Kasich would’ve stood a better chance of defeating the Butcher of Benghazi than Trump does.

Let that sink in. Because we all know how “blow-your-socks-off” dynamic John Kasich was, right?

And the Other Worst Nominee Ever in History Award Goes To….

Third, Hillary Clinton is wholly unfit for the office of the President, and any other office or position of authority. New emails have come to light and Clinton is once again under investigation by the FBI. This is unprecedented. This is ridiculous.
The saying is “where there’s smoke there’s fire”, not “where’s there’s a blazing, billowing cloud of smoke that obscures the entire sky there’s probably nothing going on because Hillary is an angel”. Scandal after scandal, shady deal after shady deal, incriminating email after incriminating email, this cannot be ignored.
Bernie Sanders may be a crazy socialist who wanted to tear down everything that made America great, but at least he was honest about it.

Counting on Congress

Fourth, the the president, while unarguably powerful, is not the end all. The House and Senate hold much more influence over things that will affect your daily life.
Everything the President wants to do must be funded by Congress. It’s called the power of the purse and it’s high time it was put to more forceful use.
One of the biggest arguments for Trump this election has been the potential vacancies on the Supreme Court And while the argument of “the next president will nominate one to three Supreme Court judges” seems to work on many people, they appear to be forgetting that the Senate must still confirm those justices. Obama nominated Merrick Garland, and the Senate has stood firm in not confirming him for eight months.
So while the entirety of the mainstream media has been focused on the presidential race for the past….18 months (can you believe it’s only been that long? Feels like longer), the Congressional elections down the ballot on November 8 are arguably far, far more important than who the next resident of the White House will be.
The Supreme Court is lost without a conservative Senate. Reigning in ridiculous federal spending is a pipedream without a conservative House.
A conservative Congress will be a check on the president, because either way this thing goes, barring a miracle of Biblical proportions, we are guaranteed a big government, liberal president for the next 4 years.

“I Don’t Wanna Play Anymore”

And the final thing I want to make clear, holding grudges is a worthless waste of time. They cause division where there should be unity, hate when there should be mutual respect, and losses when there should be victory.
I think we can all agree this election has not gone how anybody, left, right and otherwise, hoped it would go. Name calling is flying thicker and faster than grease at a McDonald’s restaurant. Everybody is feuding against everybody else. Everybody is hating and disparaging everyone else.
It’s time for that to stop.
Take a deep breath.
Now ask yourself, what are my principles? Not “who do I like and who do I hate?” But what is right and wrong. What is the truth.
I hope that clarifies a few things. Now if we can just make it through these next two weeks...we’ll have a lot more work to do. But at least we can finally stop talking about the polls, right?
