Kanye & Trump - A Strange Time To Be An American

Image
So Kanye West says something positive about President Trump. And the left goes crazy. First of all of though, I have to say that I applaud Kanye West for swimming upstream. In the liberal echo chamber that is Hollywood and pretty much all of celebrity-dom, saying something this against the grain take some guts. The left’s reaction has once again proven how intolerant they are. America is in a new era where celebrity is everything. Since selecting our first reality TV show star president, politics has lost its solemnity. When you have an entire newscycle dedicated to the possibility of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson running for president, and then you get a whole newscycle dedicated to a tweet that a rapper sent, you know we're in uncharted waters. America is definitely heading in this direction, so we need to ask ourselves the question, what will be the end result ? Look Over Here! In politics we need to ask ourselves the question, how will this affect my life? News

Justice, Right, and Rigths - Their Existence, Their Significance, Their Source

Image
Questions are an effective tool to prompt thought and discussion. However, unless they have an answer, their utility is extremely limited. For instance, if we’re cruising down the highway and I ask you what the speed limit is, that question might spark a deep conversation on traffic laws, safety vs. freedom, and the need for radar detectors. However, once the flashing lights are in the rearview mirror, it becomes very apparent that the question was actually seeking an answer, not a discussion. When a lawyer asks the question “Are justice, right, and rights merely abstract concepts? Do they even exist?” it is likely to prompt a lively philosophical discussion. But at the end of the day, this question is only useful if it actually produces an answer. Who Cares? Whether or not something exists has profound implications. Does this apple exist? The answer could mean the difference between life and starvation. Does the speed limit exist? The answer could mean the difference b

Has the American Justice System Failed?

Image
What is Justice? In America, we have an entire system that is dedicated to this seemingly nebulous concept. We have people dressed in black robes who go by the name “Justice”. Statues have been built in honor of this ideal. The goal of every good lawyer should be justice for their client. Before we ask if America’s justice system has failed, we must first ask:   And why does our definition of this foundational term matter? Justice Defined Noah Webster was an incredible man who dedicated a huge portion of his life to defining words. He knew 28 languages and his incredibly intensive study into the etymology of words produced “A Compendious Dictionary of the English Language”. To this day, his definitions are respected as complete and accurate. In his 1828 Dictionary , Webster defined justice thus: “The virtue which consists in giving to every one what is his due; practical conformity to the laws and to principles of rectitude in the dealings of men with each oth

Boulder, CO. Changes Its Name To "Crazy Town" - And There Goes the 2nd Amendment

Image
Boulder, Colorado City Council unanimously passed after first reading a city ordinance that would ban the sale & possession of “assault weapons”, bump stocks, and magazines of over 10 rounds. The next ordinance that the City Council considered was regarding changing the city’s name to “Crazy Town”. That motion was rejected because members didn’t think it really captured the essence of Boulder. The Council then took up consideration of changing the city’s name to “Hey Mass Shooters! Come Shoot Us Because We’re Totally Defenseless!”. The city attorney advised that having a city name that included multiple exclamation marks might increase tourism since it made the city seem like an exciting place to be. Thankfully, the so-called “assault weapons ban” ordinance is not yet law. 2nd Amendment advocacy groups have already threatened lawsuits if the ordinance is passed and citizens are actively mobilizing in opposition. America has been slowly (and not so slowly) straying from its fo
