I Don't Want To Play Anymore

I want to make a couple things very clear. And Today in the News...More Polls First of all, the fixation on the polls by the both sides of the media and all news people in general has got to stop. Unless you are a whiz at math, numbers, and methodology (and have nothing better to do with your time) most people have no idea which polls are reporting public opinion and which are designed to shape public opinion. While polls can be interesting and over a long period can give you an idea of what might happen, they are far more useless than many in the media make them out to be. Imagine how much time we’d have to discuss if the candidate’s policies lined up with the Constitution if we weren't constantly rehashing the latest poll? But who wants to talk about silly stuff like that? And the Worst Nominee Ever in History Award Goes To... Second, let’s all just agree that Trump supporters nominated a terrible candidate who wouldn’t know a conservative from a New Jersey govern

Today’s Paineful Truth is a couple random thoughts on a couple random topics. Actually, they’re not random. They have to do with actual current events. Because you literally cannot make this stuff up, folks. Constitution in the Attic You know those Christmas decorations you only get down once a year to look at for a couple weeks before having to put them away while thinking ‘why do we get these out? They’re so much work!’? Based on what I’ve seen, I believe that’s the attitude many politicians have toward our supreme governing document. If you’ve been paying attention to the 2016 presidential race, the fact that the president’s job is to protect, defend, and uphold the Constitution may come as a surprise to you. Listening to Trump and Clinton talk, one would be led to believe that the president’s job is to create jobs, give taxpayer money to private organizations , manage to get through a speech without coughing to death, and be really good at starting Twitter wars . The

The Cost of Winning

The latest Trump scandals regarding his grossly inappropriate words and actions towards women has revealed many things. Not only about Trump, but about us as Americans. Victories always require sacrifice. The question is, what price are you willing to pay to win? This week, I would love to have written yet another article excoriating Hillary Clinton and her destruction policies and past behavior . I would love to focus all attention and energy in making sure her political career ends now. However Donald Trump keeps getting in the way. I could ignore it, pretend it isn’t happening. But that would be a dereliction of duty. Trump is changing America . And not for the better. People I would have gladly stood shoulder to shoulder with are now excusing the inexcusable, defending the indefensible . Becoming Your Enemy Victory, or merely winning, is never an acceptable goal. Because it nearly always results in principles being thrown out the window. And when principles are gone,

Defending the Indefensible

Frankly, I pity Mike Pence. Some people think Alaskan crab fishing (crabbing?) is the world’s most difficult job. However, I submit to you that being the vice-president of the likes of Donald Trump and having to defend his consistently inane behavior on national television leaves Alaskan crab...crabbing (?) out in the freezing rain. And Mike Pence doesn’t even get an employee discount on delicious seafood out of the deal. Was Tim Kaine rude and unprofessional? Yes. Was the moderator not the greatest at her job? Probably. Was Mike Pence a gentleman in every way? Of course. However, it cannot be argued that Kaine absolutely crushed Pence by making Pence attempt to defend the indefensible. Did He Just Say That? Thanks to the modern invention called “video recording”, Trump’s past words and actions have been well documented . It was physically painful hearing those past words and actions thrown in Pence’s face. Even more painful - hearing his lame response: “He didn’t say that.”
