Bathroom Humor is No Longer Funny

Do you remember Rachel Dolezal? Several months ago she made the news for being a white woman, claiming to identify as black. The reaction from all sides was primarily negative. You found many using words like “delusion, hubris, narcissism,” “race-faker”, and “misleading” when referring to her.
Criticism of Ms. Dolezal was completely merited. After all, she had been born a certain way but was claiming that she “identified” in a different way.
That’s completely illogical, right?
Fast forward to now, and we find our president issuing a threat to every school district in the country.
Obama’s threat:
Schools will face loss of federal funds if they do not allow people who are born a certain way but claiming to “identify” in a different way to have access to all activities and facilities consistent with their current “identification”.
Oh, for a simpler time when words actually meant something and we hadn’t plunged head-first into the liberal looking glass.
Obama’s proposed justification for the gross federal overreach was Title IX, which states that: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
Three quick points:

1. Proper Role of Government

We must stop asking, “Gee, is that the best way for the government to do that?” and start asking, “Wait, should government even be doing that in the first place?” The answer, generally speaking, will be no.

2. TJ on Federalism

Where the concept of federalism gone? We are a nation of many states. These states were designed to be the laboratories where policy could be experimented on.

Thomas Jefferson said, "My general plan would be, to make the States one as to everything connected with foreign nations, and several as to everything purely domestic."
In other words, “I believe the States can best govern our home concerns, and the General [Federal] Government our foreign ones." ~Thomas Jefferson

3. Encroachments

I stated above that Obama’s action is a gross federal overreach, a.k.a. encroachment. Another founding father had something to say about this -
“But ambitious encroachments of the federal government, on the authority of the State governments, would not excite the opposition of a single State, or of a few States only. They would be signals of general alarm... But what degree of madness could ever drive the federal government to such an extremity.” ~James Madison, Federalist No. 46, January 29, 1788

The federal government encroaching on the rights of North Carolina should not just upset North Carolina. It should be a clarion bell of warning and alarm to the entire country. It should tell us the balance of power is out of whack, big time.
We are seeing an unparalleled excess of power being wielded by the federal government. They do not have that power. They are making a play and daring America to contradict them.
I will gladly contradict them.
Ask yourself this, do you want the federal government telling you how to use the bathroom? When we’ve gotten to that point, the federal government has too much power. Which is probably the understatement of the year.

The Art of Contradiction

Obviously, the majority of Americans have enough common sense to see that Obama’s actions are ludicrous. Not only that, they are dangerous and set a precedent of trampling on the rights of all Americans.*
So how do we fix it? I harp on this all the time - “Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.” ~James Madison
“Every member of the state, ought diligently to read and study the constitution of his country, and teach the rising generation to be free. By knowing their rights, they will sooner perceive when they are violated, and be the better prepared to defend and assert them.” ~John Jay
Justice John Jay
Obviously, enough people have not completed the homework that John Jay gave to the American people.
Otherwise, we wouldn’t be looking at a November election that is equivalent to the most morbid game of “Would You Rather” while gambling with the future of our children and the free world.
Otherwise, we wouldn’t be arguing about whether the federal government should be telling us how to use the bathroom.
Otherwise, we would elect leaders who understood the Constitution and knew the proper role of government.
Maybe someday.

P.S. Always, remember, people who believe in the Constitution want more freedom for you. People who disregard the Constitution are attempting to take your freedom and power and give it instead to the government.
