Standing Idle, Watching a Holocaust
Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. The website of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum states “On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides.”
Genocide is defined as “the deliberate killing of a large group of people.” Today, as we honor and remember the victims that endured the horrors of Nazi oppression, it is fitting that we take action to prevent future genocides. It is fitting that we take action with the aim of ending a genocide that has been taking place in the United States since 1973.
In 1973 a landmark decision by the Supreme Court of the United States labeled the abortion procedure a 'right'. Roe vs. Wade was a dark turning point in our nation's history that has resulted in the death of nearly 60,000,000 innocent children. Imagine the entire population of California and New York combined. Now imagine that every one of those people were killed in cold blood in the name of convenience and “women’s rights”.
In this era of enlightenment and scientific advancement, how is it that we will not bring ourselves to recognize the life of an unborn child as just that - a life. In a time where a person is blacklisted and called a “science denier” for questioning man-made global warming, the beating heart of a tiny human is called a blob of tissue not worthy of protection. In a time where a man can claim he doesn’t “feel” like a man and instead wants to be a woman, a baby who can feel pain can be chopped up into pieces and thrown into a garbage can.
This is a reprehensible blot on a nation whose charter and goal is to protect Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. How far we have strayed from that charter and goal. Life is the first right. Without it, no other right matters. A nation that allows the taking of life from its weakest and most helpless citizens, cannot stay free for long.

So today, as we remember the victims of the Holocaust, it is up to us, the living, to take increased devotion to the cause of life. A holocaust is occurring right now in the “land of the free”, it goes by the name of abortion. And we bear responsibility for every drop of blood spilled if we do not speak out, if we do not act.
