That Sinking Feeling
A jolt to the chest. Muscles tense, ready to bolt. Heart starts pounding. Breaths start coming faster. Palms getting sweaty.
Your eyes start darting around warily. That sick feeling in your stomach. A weight, right there in your gut.
You Know What’s Coming.
Anyone who’s ever told a lie knows the feeling I’m talking about. It’s when you have something to hide. Something to lose if your secret is discovered.
If we’re being brutally honest, we’ve all been there at one time or another. Whether it was telling your parents you’d brushed your teeth when you hadn’t, or cheating on your a school test, these kind of secrets carry a weight. They carry a cost.
This feeling intensifies a hundred fold when we see someone else get caught while our secret remains.
Bill Clinton knows this feeling. Louis C.K. knows this feeling. Harvey Weinstein knows this feeling. There’s accusations that Roy Moore may know this feeling. Anthony Weiner knows this feeling. Al Franken has felt this feeling just this week.
How many other members of Hollywood are feeling this feeling a hundred fold right at this moment? How many politicians & members of Congress got that sick, sinking feeling as their heart started to pound at the news of Al Franken’s gross misconduct?
That Celestial Spark
For years, we’ve been told by secularists across the political spectrum that there is no right and wrong. Those things are merely arbitrary facades set up by control freak religionists who hate fun. However, now we see them singing a different tune.
Now, strangely, right and wrong seem to matter a lot. A person’s moral character seems to matter all of the sudden! How can this be?
America’s Founding Father knew the answer,
Conscience. Love it or hate it, we all have one. God has placed in each of us an innate sense of right and wrong. We can crush it, trample it, try to extinguish it, yet it still remains.
That little voice inside saying, “You know that’s wrong.”
How to Never Be Accused of Misconduct
You know that sick, sinking feeling I mentioned? There’s a very simple way to never have to experience that feeling. Want to know what it is?
Don’t have secrets.
Secrets, lies, deception, they all come with a price. That price is the mental & emotional strain of guilt and the fear of being caught.
That is how we keep that spark of Celestial Fire alive within our hearts.
It does us little good to fret over the state of affairs in America if we are not doing everything in our power to change what we can change. It’s easy to feel like you’re just one person, what can you do?
You can focus on just one person.
It’s time to get rid of your own secrets.
