Hogg & Company - Welcome to the Real World

The liberal left and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) have long been fans of and experts at playing identity politics.

This is one reason Obama had some of the successes he had. If you criticized Obama, you were instantly labeled as a racist.

If you’re for border security, you hate Mexicans.

If you believe in traditional marriage, you’re a homophobe and a hater.

And the list goes on. However, recently added to this list:

If you disagree with young people spouting ill-advised, illogical liberal talking points regarding unconstitutional gun control, you hate children.

*Sigh*

Ok, folks. It’s time to realize 3 things:

1. When You’re Wrong, You’re Wrong

Your experience does not make your right.

Your background does not make you right.

Your credentials do not make you right.

Your skin color, age, national origin, gender, physical ability, etc., etc. in no way validate your argument. David Hogg and the rest of the “March For Our Lives”/”#NationalWalkoutDay” crowd are wrong.

Period.

Any time a human dies it is a tragedy. However, when a gun is used, the answer is not more gun control. Because, as has been said countless times, guns are not the problem. People are the problem.

So while we can admire their passion and drive, we must also acknowledge that on this issue Hogg and his supporters are just plain wrong.

2. Ideas Have Consequences

When someone is making an argument that is completely wrong and ill-informed, it’s not always necessary to correct them.

For instance, if someone said that 3 Musketeers candy bars were better than Snickers, that is completely false and ludicrous. However, there’s nothing wrong with someone making that argument and I probably wouldn’t make too big of a deal out of it.

However, if someone was making the argument that 3 Musketeers should be required daily eating and that Snickers should be completely banned, then we have a problem.

If someone doesn’t like guns and thinks not having them would be better, ok, they’re wrong, but again, I may try and talk them out of this ridiculousness, but not going to make a big deal of it.

However, if the argument is that guns are the problem, they need to be banned, and that the 2nd Amendment needs repealed, then we have a problem. A really, really big problem.

The ideas put forward by Hogg and the like are completely antithetical to the concept of America, freedom, and pretty much everything we hold dear. The consequences of such ideas, if put into practice, will be the destruction of liberty.

3. It’s Nothing Personal

The liberal left and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) are outraged when conservatives defend American freedom and the 2nd Amendment from the attacks of ill-informed young people like Hogg.

“How dare they attack a child!!!”

This is nothing more than classic leftist tactics. If they can equate the truth with hate, they feel they’ve won.

What they don’t understand, is that true patriots don’t see the world according to identity politics. Instead, we’re concerned with what will grow freedom, and what will hurt freedom.

We opposed ObamaCare because it was a disaster that hurt America. The left’s lens of identity politics said we opposed it because Obama is black.

We oppose Hogg and company because the policies they’re pushing are unconstitutional, ineffective, and anti-freedom. The left’s lens of identity politics say it’s because Hogg and company are young and we obviously hate young people.

Welcome to The Real World

If Hogg and company want to put themselves out into this real world debate that concerns the fate of freedom in America, then good for them.

Hogg and Company, I’m asking you, please:

-Research your topic prior to advocating the removal of a foundational right.

-Realize your ideas have consequences and try to imagine what those might be before fundamentally altering 230+ years of American freedom.

-Prepare to have your ideas critically examined in light of real facts.

-And stop playing identity politics. It’s annoying.

  1. you my friend, are a white wing trump lover ignorant bastard. the 2nd amendment was never set up for military war weapons, that any jerk can purchase anywhere. the second, was set up for your home protection, not mass killings. you and the treasionist NRA need to put shut down now.

    1. Interesting that you call me your friend and yet you obviously don't even know my position on Trump! Might want to read up a bit prior to making wild accusations.
I agree, the 2nd Amendment was not designed to allow mass killings. It was set up so that law abiding citizens could protect themselves. Whether it's a gun, a knife, or a pressure cooker, evil people will find a way to do evil things. And the solution is not to take away the means of defense from law abiding citizens.
I would also recommend doing some research on what exactly the NRA does. The organization helps educate and train people on proper use of firearms in order to protect themselves. Sounds like a worthwhile venture to me!
I would further recommend that you take a minute and consider your reaction of wanting me (a lowly blogger) and the NRA (a perfectly legal organization) "to put shut down now". Silencing opposition because of a disagreement is a dangerous road to go down.
