Dear Future Generation: I'm Sorry

Image
In 1973 a landmark decision by the Supreme Court of the United States labeled the abortion procedure a 'right'. Roe vs. Wade was a turning point in our nation's history, and not a turn for the better. In this era of enlightenment and scientific advancement, we still will not bring ourselves to recognize the life of an unborn child as just that - a life. This is a reprehensible blot on a nation whose charter and goal was to protect Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. How far we have strayed.      This video does a wonderful job bringing things into perspective in a way that I'm sure many of us have not thought of before. And it also lays out ways for us to make a difference. So take a listen, I think you will be inspired and challenged. If so, and you do care about this future generation, please share this video with as many people as you can. Anti-Discrimination, A Definitive Answer

Image
Recently, the issue of “LGBT rights” has come to the forefront of the media. And I believe it is high time for a reasoned, logical response to the many erroneous and false assumptions that are made. Anti-discrimination laws can, and should only protect citizens from discrimination that is against (1) their Constitutional rights or (2) their unchangeable characteristics. So what does that mean? Discriminate means to “distinguish; to observe the difference between.” Nothing bad about that. In fact, we do it every day. (Check out Discrimination....A Good Thing? for more on this) The question we must ask then, “....which forms of “discrimination” are so profoundly offensive to the national conscience that they justify government action that interferes with the rights of employers and other private entities and gives special protections to certain classes of people?” ( Peter Sprigg ) The answer of course is discrimination that violates a Constitutional right or that is based on a

Round 1: Cruz vs. Paul

It’s just like Christmas….You know how Christmas ads just seem to start earlier and earlier every year? So it is with the 2016 Presidential Race. We’ve still got about 19 months until that fateful day. And yet it has been some of the top stories in the last couple weeks. Here at Paineful Truth, we try to go a bit deeper than the headlines that you get in the news every week. So why this story if the elections are so far away? Because, in my opinion, the sooner we can unite behind one candidate, the better chance there is of actually getting them into office. With the possibility of 16 or so candidates in the Republican primary, the sooner we weed out the non-choices, the better. * This is not to endorse either-or, I think it’s too early to call and not all the players are present. The goal here is to get as many facts presented to a candid country as possible so that the most informed and educated decision can be made. So let’s get into it! The Declaration of Independen

Discrimination....A Good Thing?

“DISCRIMINATE, verb transitive [Latin , difference, distinction; differently applied; Gr., Latin ]   1. To distinguish; to observe the difference between; as, we may usually discriminate true from false modesty.” ( http://webstersdictionary1828.com/ ) Discrimination is a good thing. In fact, you and I do it all of the time. Our society would collapse without discrimination. It is a necessary and vital part of life. For example, say you go to gas station “A” instead of gas station “B” because gas station “A” is 2 cents cheaper. You just discriminated against the higher priced gas station. Say you go to one restaurant versus another because you like the food better. You just discriminated. Or perhaps you run a company and you choose to hire one person over another because of a higher education or better experience. You just discriminated. The above definition is probably not what springs to mind to most these days. The reason being that the word has morphed to mean, “to make an
“Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light.”  ~George Washington Do you believe this? It’s not a popular belief these days. For one, there are many who deny that there is absolute truth. Moral relativism, saying that circumstances determine truth, what is right and wrong, has become the norm. Another reason this is unpopular is because ‘pain’ is unpopular. We’d much rather do what feels good. We as a culture have lost that tenacious drive to seek out the answers for ourselves. My name is Jonathan Paine. I was born and raised an American. I love this country, her people, her land. I believe we have been blessed beyond imagination. We have lived in prosperity for over 220 years under one form of government and one Constitution. But my heart breaks everyday as I see this country I love, slowly, surely, moving away from our foundations of liberty. The truth of our past, meant to guide our future, has be
